found this through the PS1 haunted demo disc and I have to say that as a transmasc nonbinary person, this game truly speaked to me.

As a trans adult who struggles with getting misgendered every single day--especially at work--dysphoria and trying to remain rational whilst asking for even a bit of respect is a constant battle.

I love the added element of horror as well, and I've always been a fan of RPG Maker games, and I loved how almost every item was interactable, as I've always loved that in RPG Maker games! I find that a lot of RPGM games don't utilize this feature of exploration, but I feel like this game was done very nicely. The point and click segment was also spectactular.

The themes of dysphoria and mental health really spoke to me and I cannot wait for the full release! <3 Amazing job!

One more added thing: The soundtrack was spectactular and breathtaking, something you rarely see in games nowadays. Excellent job on that as well!

Really enjoyed the Demo, it gave me Deltarune vibes (in a very positive way) Keep on it.

Congratulations on your new account! I hope you find many good games on here aside from this one. :>

I'm not sure what they're supposed to do with your critique. You just took the effort to be exceptionally rude. Also, agenda? What agenda? You must be the sort that finds it difficult to engage with anything that might challenge your world view?

If there is one thing that I know is true about my game, it is that it's "not for everyone". I understand that's a broad statement and one people have hidden behind for the sake of evading criticism, but there are some unavoidable facts about An Outcry that make it unappealing to a large amount of people:

- There is a lot of reading, and none of the dialogue is voice-acted;
- The plot (at least in this demo) is very calmly perturbing with no real "action" to reel in those who aren't into the writing;
- It contains characters who are outside the gender norm, and highlights their struggles with not being respected by society at large.

Some of these bullet points, I am happy to say have changed as development continued; there will, in fact, be combat, and the plot's stakes will rise.
I am actually quite unhappy with this demo, knowing how the complete game is shaping up (which is why I recently turned donations off for it).

What I will not apologise for or redact is the use of a non-binary character. The truth of the matter is that non-binary people exist, and that they are regularly mistreated and disrespected for being who they are; highlighting a truth is not and never will be an "agenda", it is simply honesty about a real experience.  Existence is not inherently political; the wish to eschew or nullify somebody's existence, however, is.

I appreciate your apology, and hope this explains a thing or two about this game. I do not mind that you don't enjoy it, and I did mean it when I said: Look elsewhere on this site, there is plenty of excellent stuff to be found. :>

Loved it! I'm extremely excited to see what comes next!

i honestly can't wait for the whole thing to be out. i audibly cried "NOOO!" when the demo came to an end i was for real pissed off i couldn't see the rest! Such a pleasant surprise of a game, i don't think i would really call it horror, but more a dark thriller with excellent writing about a subject that i haven't ever seen talked about in a game until now.

What can I say, this art is majestic and the writing is like gracious poetry. This can definitely be relatable at times. I'm very excited to follow the unnamed's journey :)

An Outcry was one of the coolest games I've played in a while. Unbearably stylish in it's art, very amazing writing and just about everything I want in a game! It got some spooks out of me, but they weren't just empty spooks. I was on edge, and I could just feel my blood pressure going up haha!

Aside from the spooks, really, the character writing is stellar. I felt really connected to some of the characters and the conversations they all had with each other struck me.

I loved this demo, and I cannot wait to see what's next from the devs. <3

Just finished the Demo. Anyone who reads this, KEEP THIS ON YOUR RADAR. This is so promising so far, I cannot wait to play the finished product. This team deserves all the support they can get! <3

I played through the demo of this in the Haunted PS1 demo disc and was absolutely blown away. I thought the atmosphere was incredibly tense and kept me very on edge as to what would happen next. Cannot wait for the full version.

I'm so excited for the full version of this game! The imagery of the background and character art is really striking, and Quinn's lyricism brings a fantastic depth to the dialogue. Some parts are like poetry, some parts ARE poetry. The unnamed is both alien and relatable to me, and I want to learn more about the world they live in. There's a ton of potential!

Every bit of this game feels like a tight, suffocating hug. I guess I haven't felt THAT much connected to anything in the last few (quite many, actually) months.

I ADORED this one, WOW! Can't wait for the full release.
Streamed it for youtube, it's so real.

Just finished the Demo(HPS1), thought it was great! Love from Australia

I love this and I think it's a really important game. I'm excited for the full release.

Intriguing game with a unique main character. I really enjoyed what I played and glad I continued after my initial confusion. After the smoking scene I thought the game was over.. but decided to reload my save and make sure lol.

The game is interesting and the art style's great as well. Imo, it took a bit too long to get to the good parts. But that might just be me. It's interesting if anything else.

Here's my channel for other games I have played.

I played this game on Haunted PS1's Demo Disc. He is very interesting, both for the gameplay inspired by the RPGs and the storyline. I can't wait to play it completely.

Hi! Is there a place to listen to the soundtrack? I absolutely love the sounds of this game.

Jack King-Spooner's part of the OST (which includes the much-lauded prologue song) can be purchased directly from him here:

All proceeds from that part of the OST go directly to him.

It includes a few tracks that aren't in the game yet.

Otherwise, the full OST will not be publicly released until the game is complete.

This is lovely, I appreciate the tone and atmosphere

This is an absolutely stunning game! I adore the writing style and presentation, and I can already feel myself getting attached to the Unnamed and Anne. Wonderful work, I can't wait for the full game!

Thank you so much!! :)

I really enjoyed this game, reminded me of all my lovely neighbors in my old apartment lmao thanks for the game!

No Commentary

I'm really enjoying it so far! Quick bug note though, after the character smokes their first cigarette outside, if you stay on the sidewalk while you walk (like a good citizen) then you won't trigger the next events with the birds.

OOPS; I did notice that, but for some reason I ended up forgetting to fix it. Will do so in the next version, thanks for pointing that out!

The grafics look really great!!

I just finished the demo and am going to start it up again in just a moment to try out different dialogue options and to experience it once more--but I wanted to write this first! I loved playing through the game--I felt so many things! I was anxious (for the Unnamed, for what might happen to them, for what has happened to them [which made me wish to know more about them and their past!], and worried about the world they exist in), I was proud (of the Unnamed, in the way I strive to be proud of myself as an lgbtq+ person, too), I was charmed (by the sharp dialogue, the poetry, the choices you can make, the really enjoyable and haunting music, and the gorgeous pixel art), I was terrified (at the end...) and also so moved. I feel so invested in the game, the Unnamed themself, the story, and where everything is going to go! I think the demo works well as a stand-alone piece (as you’ve stated it could be played as~) but am going to wait (with bated breath and extreme excitement--) for anything that could be next <3 thank you so much for sharing such an important game (and character, and story, and emotions!) with all of us. <3 <3 <3

I absolutely love this demo, thank you for taking the time and effort to make this. I just get an error message after the bird event outside, saying "Cannot open Shrike GAME END file". Is this an intentional ending or is it a bug? Thank you, sending love from Prague ♥

EDIT: Nevermind im a stoopid and didn't read the comments first. The ending puzzled me but I very much like this idea anyway hehe :') Looking forward to seeing more of this story.

Hey. I just played your demo. I love it. I would like to say specific things about game-play. However, it felt so lovely and polished that it is difficult for me to make any suggestions. The only thing that troubled me is that I could not see the ending scene. I just got an error message that the file could not open.  I hope to see your game released. I recorded how I played your game on the video. You can check it below. If you want me to delete the video, let me know. However, if you like the video, I make videos for such developers like you every day. I will be happy if you subscribe. I would love to make another video with your games in the future if you are fine with the idea. I subscribed to your page so that I will be notified.

That error is actually deliberate - the crash was implemented deliberately to signify the end of the demo. Completely fine with your making videos, I appreciate them so much! :) Thank you for playing!

Thank you for making amazing games.

Hi!!The games that inspired you are ones of my favourite!

Your game looks really cool , the art is awesome and the story sounds promising!!

Plus I am nb myself so seeing some representation is always good : )

I look forward to see how it evolves!!
